What I'm Digging Right Now

Hello all!

I've discovered a lot of great products since the last time I did one of these posts.  In order to keep this post from getting really long, I only featured skin and hair care products this time.  So, let's jump right into it.

I'm all about soft skin, and it's no secret that Dove is one of the brands I think of when it comes to soft skin.  As I was in my local WalMart looking for some soap for myself, I came across their Blue Fig and Orange Blossom body wash.  THIS. STUFF. SMELLS. LIKE. HEAVEN. and leaves my skin soft and smooth.  I just discovered they have a matching deodorant so I will definitely be picking that up as well. (Around $6.00)

Applying some type of moisturizer after a bath/shower is a must; especially in the winter time.  When my money's looking a little funny to afford my favorite lotion (see previous post), I can count on Vaseline Advanced Repair Unscented Lotion to do the job.  This lotion isn't heavy, greasy, or sticky which is great because you don't have to worry about your sheets sticking to you when it's time to go to bed.  Plus, it's unscented, so you can still wear your favorite scent without it clashing. (Around $7.00)

Since I'm in my 40's, I'm beginning to notice dry patches on my face, especially around my mouth.  This can be worse in the winter and when I use a cleanser that foams.  I've been on the hunt for a facial cleanser that doesn't foam for a while now.  My hunt led me to my local CVS where I came across this facial wash from Olay.  I was intrigued immediately because of the price (around $5) and because the cleanser doesn't foam.  It also contains little micro beads that aid in exfoliation.  They aren't the big, rough kind; they're much smaller and more gentle.  I've only used this once but I can tell it's going to be a staple product for me.

Since I was unable to find any more of my newly found favorite deep conditioners (see previous post), I had to find something else.  On a trip to my local Sally Beauty I discovered the Texture ID brand of products.  Their deep conditioner really stuck out to me (not to mention it was on sale at the time).  So, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did.  This stuff is thick, creamy, and leaves me with soft, defined hair. It's at a great price point ($7.99), I don't have to order it online, and it's usually on some type of sale at Sally.  I call that a win, win, win!

This product is more like a revisit than a new discovery.  I purchased this previously about 2-3 years ago.  I ended up giving it to my sister because it made my hair too soft 😨😨.  Sounds silly, I know, but I decided to give it a go again. I usually go for creamy leave-ins, so me actually liking this one was completely foreign to me.  It's really light and smooth and spreads easily through my hair leaving behind soft, defined hair.  And the price doesn't break the bank either (around $5.99).  These products are really hard to find. I did manage to find them at one of my local beauty supply stores.  If all else fails, you can get it from Amazon.com

I've never been a fan of traditional hair gels because they always reminded me of curl activator gel from back in the day (I had a jherri curl.) Plus, they always gave me defined, but dry and hard hair.  When I saw this on clearance at my local Target I was on the fence about it.  Me being the over thinking Virgo that I am, I was like, "what if I hate it?"  Or, "what if I like it but can't find it any more?" Long story short, I tried it, and I LOVE IT!! First off, she scent is fabulous.  Second, since it's a cream gel, there's no hard helmet head. Third, the price won't have you clutching your wallet ($4.07 on Amazon.) This, combined with the Slick Slip Leave-in Conditioner, makes for happy hair days. I can't wait to try this combo out once the weather gets warmer. Just like the leave-in, you may have to go through hell and high water to find this.  But if all else fails, Amazon.com has it.

That concludes this installment of What I'm Digging Right Now.  If you have any questions about these or other products I've talked about, feel free to ask away in the comments section.

Until next time...
