Another One Bites the Dust

So, I went to my mailbox last Friday like I always do, and there was this card in there from People Magazine.  I really didn't think anything of it because I always get cards in the mail from them trying to get me to subscribe to their magazine.  But, as I began to read the card, I started to get very concerned.  People Magazine informed me that as of January 2018, they will no longer be publishing People Style (Watch) and that my current subscription will be replaced with regular People.  I.  WAS.  A. BALL. OF. EMOTIONS.  I was sad, mad, upset, you name it.  I've been a loyal subscriber of People Style (Watch) since the early/mid 2000's.  It was one of the only fashion magazines that I could relate to because it featured products that were actually attainable for my budget.  It featured everything from make-up tips and tricks, cool shoes, sparkly jewelry, etc.

Did the magazine not have a lot of readers? Did it get too expensive to publish? Is People Magazine going in another direction? Could the magazine have been saved if they would've published it every couple months? Were the faithful readers taken into consideration when this decision was made? These are some of my burning questions whenever I hear of a magazine not being published anymore.  Especially when it's a magazine that I happen to really like. In my opinion, People Style (Watch) was a magazine that the every day girl could relate to.  She could see herself in it because its focus was the working mom, the young college student, the stay home mom, the woman that wanted to look great without breaking the bank.  We need more magazines like these because women need to know you don't have to spend a fortune to look like one.  This has been my motto since the inception of Dial S For Style because I am that working mom who wants to look nice for not a lot. I just hope this doesn't come back to haunt them in the end.  Until then, I guess I'll have to pick my feelings up off the floor (hesitantly) and move on.  Sigh....
