All Mixed Up

Hello all!!

Mixing patterns is something I've been trying my hand at for the past year.  I see it on other people and love it so much.  But never thought I could pull it off personally.  If that's keeping you from trying this trend out, please don't let it deter you.  It can be easy if you start simple and try not to get too crazy in the beginning.

What I mean by start simple is picking patterns that are the same color.  That way, it's easier to mix and you look pulled together at the same time.  To keep things easy, I decided to go with black and white as my color pallet.

I've worn the skirt and blouse separately, but chose to pair them together for this outfit.  My handbag provided some little pops of color to an otherwise monotone outfit. But, what really kicks my ensemble up several notches is my sweater.

This piece of awesomeness I picked about a week ago from a boutique called The Clothesline. When I saw it I knew I had to give it a home (and it being on sale was a plus as well.) So, all these similar colored pieces combined together become one interesting outfit.

If you're new to print mixing and want to dip your big toe in the water, this is a great way to do it.  Once you get the hang of mixing similar colors, you can move on to bold colors and prints.  I'm definitely going to try my hand at mixing colors and prints when I feel more comfortable.

So, have you tried mixing prints? If so, how do you decide what to put together? If not, what's stopping you from trying it? Let's chat it up in the comments section.

Until next time...
